| Director - Physical Education, Health & Athletics | 25-202 | The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a probationary track Director - Physical Education, Health & Athletics. ASSIGNMENT: District Wide; 12 months per year; SUMMARY: The Director of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics supports district leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Niskayuna School District’s physical education and health academic programs. This position also provides leadership to the district's interscholastic athletics. The goal is to plan and maintain a sound, well-articulated instructional and co-curricular program by working with pupils, teachers, administrators, and parents. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: - Monitor and evaluate the Physical Education and Health program grades K-12
- Provide program directions as needed to meet future needs and provide principals with information regarding new state requirements.
- Work with teachers to maintain quality and consistency of instruction through advanced lesson planning strategies and revise and document curriculum with curriculum mapping.
- Consult with teachers and pupils in classrooms to serve as a resource person to teachers and administrators in methods and materials of teaching.
- Lead Professional Development workshops on new technology, curriculum mapping and instructional practices.
- Recruit and select the best qualified staff.
- Assess staff professional growth needs and recommend and implement staff development programs.
- Plan, secure and develop resources and deliver district professional development in department groupings.
- Coordinate the interscholastic athletic program for the district partnering with internal and external partners across the state.
- Interpret and enforce school, league, and state regulations, ensuring adherence to Title IX equity standards across all programs.
- Serve as the primary district representative at league, sectional, and state meetings.
- Direct all home and away athletic logistics, including scheduling, officiating, and facility preparation.
- Lead the development of athletic budgets and salary proposals.
- Oversee the recruitment, orientation, and regular evaluation of the coaching staff.
- Manage all athlete documentation, including insurance, physical exams, injury reports, and parental permissions.
- Articulate the needs of teachers regarding facilities and technology.
- Supervise assigned support staff.
- Manage logistics of resources and lesson plans for daily and long-term substitutes to insure uninterrupted delivery of instruction.
- Participate in local professional organizations and network with other administrators.
- Examine instructional practices in light of data and best practices.
- Maintain inventory of textbooks, equipment and supplies including articulating immediate and long-range needs.
- Participate in the district budget building process.
- Working with the building principals, other administrators and the school councils gathering the statistical information for annual assessment reports.
- Utilizing data to establish long and short-term goals.
- Providing data analysis regarding student achievement and planning for appropriate instruction.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
