Job Description

The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a probationary track Director - Physical Education, Health & Athletics. 

ASSIGNMENT: District Wide; 12 months per year;

SUMMARY: 

The Director of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics supports district leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Niskayuna School District’s physical education and health academic programs. This position also provides leadership to the district's interscholastic athletics. The goal is to plan and maintain a sound, well-articulated instructional and co-curricular program by working with pupils, teachers, administrators, and parents.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and evaluate the Physical Education and Health program grades K-12
• Provide program directions as needed to meet future needs and provide principals with information regarding new state requirements.
• Work with teachers to maintain quality and consistency of instruction through advanced lesson planning strategies and revise and document curriculum with curriculum mapping.
• Consult with teachers and pupils in classrooms to serve as a resource person to teachers and administrators in methods and materials of teaching.
• Lead Professional Development workshops on new technology, curriculum mapping and instructional practices.
• Recruit and select the best qualified staff.
• Assess staff professional growth needs and recommend and implement staff development programs.
• Plan, secure and develop resources and deliver district professional development in department groupings.
• Provide leadership to the district's Interscholastic Athletic Program.
• Represent the school district in league, sectional and state meetings.
• Recruit and retain qualified coaches for all sports.
• Review, interpret and enforce school, league, and state rules and regulations for the coaching staff.
• Direct all activities related to home and away athletic events.

 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current New York State Certification as School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)
• Minimum of five (5) years of teaching Physical Education and Health
• Minimum of five (5) years of interscholastic coaching, which includes supervision of multiple coaches and sports
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a school district administrator
