The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a probationary Cleaner - Second Shift.

ASSIGNMENT: Niskayuna High School; 12 months per year; 40.00 hours per week.

GENERAL INFORMATION: This is routine work requiring the efficient performance of a variety of cleaning tasks. The work involves the execution of these tasks through a well-established routine.  Direct supervision is received from a higher-level supervisor.  The incumbent does related work as required.

The position of Cleaner is a non-competitive Schenectady County Civil Service position. Candidates must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Dusts chairs, tables, desks and other furniture;
  • Washes windows, walls, woodwork, toilets and sinks;
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums and waxes floors with various equipment designed for those purposes;
  • Gathers and disposes of refuse;
  • Cleans and polishes furniture;
  • Performs a variety of routine errands and cleaning tasks;
  • Performs a variety of related duties as required;
  • May clean blackboards and erasers;
  • May monitor restrooms and report violations of the non-smoking policy;
  • May use a district motor vehicle as assigned.
Per NSDEA Contract - $20.14 per hour + Shift Diff
Printing & Mailing Clerk (30.00 hours)25-179

The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a probationary Printing & Mailing Clerk.

ASSIGNMENT: Niskayuna High School; 12 months per year; 30.00 hours per week.

GENERAL INFORMATION: This position involves overall responsibility for managing bulk mailing and copying services provided by a centralized copying and mailing facility. The work also requires the operation of digital copiers, binding and mailing machines, and related office equipment (e.g. computer workstations).  General supervision is received from a high-level administrator, with leeway allowed for making independent judgments on routine policies, procedures and schedules.  Direct supervision may be exercised over clerical assistants and student workers.  The incumbent does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Produces photocopies on digital copy machines for faculty, staff and administrators of the departments and schools of the district;
  • Scans paper documents into digital copiers, using flatbed or sheet-fed scanning equipment;
  • Collates, punches, cuts, binds and laminates finished material as required;
  • Packages finished copies for shipment via district messenger;
  • May assist departmental personnel in preparation of electronic files to be sent for copying via local or wide-area networks;
  • Maintains daily and monthly logs of usage by building and department;
  • Summarizes usage information for preparation of cost chargeback statements.
  • Prints or attaches address information to outgoing mail pieces, using label printing and attaching equipment;
  • Folds, tabs, bundles and trays mail for delivery to the Postal Service;
  • Prepares documentation for submission of mail to the Postal Service;
  • Consults with Postal Service personnel and website as needed to ensure compliance with postal regulations.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment and machines;
  • Arranges for service representative(s) to make major repairs and adjustments to equipment as required;
  • Controls office inventories through the regular requisition of supplies and materials such as toner, labels, staples and paper;
  • Trains part-time and student help in operation of the equipment;
  • Performs a variety of related duties as required.

 

Per NSDEA Contract - $19.04 per hour
