Job Description

The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a Leave Replacement Occupational Therapist for the 2026-2027 school year. 

ASSIGNMENT: Student Support Services; Hillside Elementary School; 1.0 FTE; 10 months.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

• Provides occupational therapy services directed toward the development and/or maintenance of a child's physical potential for functioning in all educational activities;
• Serves as a consultant to staff, parents, and the Committee on Special Education regarding occupational therapy techniques;
• Prepares and maintains records including, but not limited to, statistical reports on the frequency and types of treatment and number of students treated;
• Participates in student evaluation conferences;
• Make recommendations to supervisors for ordering supplies and equipment;
• Identifies adaptive equipment to permit a child to function more independently in the classroom;
• Communicates and coordinates with consulting and/or family physicians regarding the implementation of student's treatment plan;
• Performs a variety of related duties as required

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

The position of Occupational Therapist is a competitive Schenectady County Civil Service position. Candidates must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment.

Candidates must be licensed and registered by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapist.

The ideal candidate will excel in designing and implementing therapeutic activities, possess a deep understanding of current school-based practices, demonstrate exceptional time management skills and have experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
