The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for a probationary Senior Maintenance Mechanic.
ASSIGNMENT: District Wide; 12 months per year; 40.00 hours per week.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
This work involves responsibility for assisting in the planning and directly supervising the execution of maintenance and repair programs inherent in the operation of residential, institutional and public buildings. In addition, the work, if at an airport, entails being familiar with maintenance techniques peculiar to this type of technical operation. The position in specific cases may call for primacy in a given building trade skill. Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate employees on the maintenance and cleaning staff. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Supervises the maintenance and repair of several buildings and allied facilities;
Makes periodic inspection of properties;
Supervises or assists in the repair of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning equipment;
Supervises or performs work in carpentry, painting, masonry, roofing, tiling, lock-smithing or other mechanical works;
May supervise and perform specialized electrical work peculiar to a specific type of operation;
May maintain and care for landscaped areas;
Estimates materials required for repairs;
Keeps records of materials and supplies used;
May supervise the work of building cleaning personnel;
Performs a variety of related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of experience in large scale building maintenance work or in a specific building trade skill, one year of which shall have involved the supervision of others; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined in (A) above.
